Infrastructure and equipment
Currently coordinated by Prof. Julio Apolinário Cordioli, LVA has a state-of-the-art infrastructure for the development of teaching, research and extension work in the area of acoustics and vibrations. This infrastructure includes:
- Two reverberating chambers;
- A semi-anechoic chamber;
- An anechoic chamber for aeroacoustic tests;
- A temperature-controlled chamber (-30°C to 50°C / -22°F to 122°F) for vibration testing;
- Tank for calibration of underwater acoustics equipment;
- Critical listening room with speaker arrangement for virtualization of sound sources;
- Experiment rooms and garage for car testing;
- Classrooms and meeting rooms;
- Various digital analyzers and multi-channel acquisition systems (B&K, LMS, NI, Head-acoustics, etc.);
- Wide range of transducers for acoustic and vibration testing (accelerometers, microphones, pressure sensors, laser vibrometers, impedance heads, impact hammers, magnetic vibration sensors, hydrophones, etc.);
- Wide range of equipment for acoustics and vibration testing (NPS meters, NPS and vibration calibrators, speakers, electrodynamic exciter, power amplifiers, turntable for microphones, oscilloscopes, impedance tube, etc.);
- Equipment for subjective acoustic testing (KEMAR and HeadAcoustics artificial head and torso, equalizers, headphones, speakers arrangement for acoustic virtual reality, etc.);
- AC40 interacoustics audiometer with circum auricular, supra auricular and insert headphones;
- Various experimental analysis software (B&K Pulse, LMS Test.Lab, NI Labview, HeadAcoustics Artemis, etc);
- Various numerical simulation software (ESI VA-One, LMS Virtual.Lab, MSC Nastran/Patran, COMSOL, etc.).
Here are some of the acoustics and vibration tests that LVA is able to do:
- Experimental modal analysis;
- Sound power measurement;
- Measurement of the acoustic absorption coefficient of materials;
- Characterization of visco-elastic materials;
- Sound transmission loss measurement;
- Measurement of electroacoustic parameters of speakers.
